Campaign Bio
James Fishback is a fourth-generation Floridian from Broward County running for Governor of Florida as a Republican in the 2026 election cycle. The son of a Colombian immigrant mother and a father who ran a tree-trimming business, Fishback grew up watching his family struggle through economic hardship, including a period on food stamps. He overcame a severe childhood stutter through competitive debate, eventually becoming a national debate champion.
Fishback studied international economics at Georgetown University's Walsh School of Foreign Service before building a career in finance. He founded Azoria Partners, an investment firm focused on merit-based, America-First companies, and Incubate Debate, a nonprofit that brings free competitive debate leagues to Florida high schools. At 31, he is among the youngest candidates in the 2026 gubernatorial race.
His campaign centers on economic affordability for Florida families, with Day-One executive order priorities including banning private equity and foreign buyers from purchasing single-family homes, eliminating homestead property taxes, a $1 billion citrus revival prize, halting H-1B visa abuse, eliminating toll roads for residents, a 25% teacher pay raise, and merit-based grants for high-performing students. He is visiting all 67 Florida counties as part of a grassroots statewide tour.
